SEQR launches Contactless Payments and Gocardless Service in the UK

10/10/2016

– SEQR customers can pay from bank account at 500,000 points of sale

As of today SEQR customers in the UK are now able to quickly and simply link their bank account to the SEQR app and make payments directly from their bank account. Until now UK customers have enjoyed the benefits of the SEQR pre paid account functionality, however enabling customers to connect their bank account opens SEQR up to millions more customers who prefer direct payment over a pre paid option.

In addition, customers will now also be able to make SEQR “Tap & Pay” payments at any retailer that accepts contactless NFC payments. The UK is one of Europe’s most advanced markets for contactless payments with approximately 500,000 terminals currently activate. This is set to grow further as in line with card network rules no terminals without contactless technology can be sold or installed in Europe after 2018.

“The launch of these two new features represents a major leap forward for SEQR in terms of customer acquisition and payment acceptance in the UK. At a global level, SEQR is rapidly establishing itself as the standard way for customers to pay with their mobile, adding contactless payments and direct bank account linking the UK will cement this position further”, says Peter Fredell, CEO of Seamless.

Linking of customer bank accounts is facilitated by Gocardless whose collaboration with SEQR was announced earlier in the summer. SEQR “Tap & Pay” payments are available to customers with mobile phones using the Android operating system.

All European Seqr users can now use Seqr to pay all over the world

– Contactless payment technology today allows for payments in approximately 30 million point-of-sales globally

As of today all Seqr users in Europe can pay with Seqr all over the world using NFC (contactless) technology. The Seqr user simply holds the phone near the contactless card terminal to pay in shops everywhere where contactless card terminals are installed.

The new Seqr contactless technology increases the freedom and independence for our users from old and inefficient technologies and financial services. Contactless technology makes Seqr into a truly global service and also increases the safety for users as a lost or stolen wallet doesn’t have to ruin a vacation or a business trip anymore. Seqr now is a fully global, fully functioning payment alternative wherever you are.

Seqr is solidifying its position as the standard for mobile payments with the most versatile technology and the largest physical acceptance network of any of our competitors in the global mobile payments market. At the same time our consumer uptake area is by far the largest with 16 countries where the Seqr app can be downloaded, says Peter Fredell, CEO of Seamless.

Payments with Seqr via contactless technology is supported on telephones with Android operative system, currently approximately 80 % of the smartphone market globally.

The number of contactless payment terminals is increasing fast and it has been planned and projected by the card networks that all card terminals globally should accept contactless payments by 2020. According to card network rules no terminals without contactless technology can be sold or installed in Europe after 2018.

Seqr can today be downloaded by consumers in Sweden, Romania, Finland, Belgium, Netherlands, Germany, France, Portugal, Spain, Great Britain, Austria, Ireland, Malta, Luxembourg, Italy and the USA.

SEQR launches contactless payments

11/7/2016

Nasdaq Stockholm-listed Seamless mobile payment solution SEQR is launching contactless payments in Sweden using NFC technology (Near Field Communication). Contactless makes it possible to pay with SEQR at point of sale (POS) terminals that support NFC which is featured on almost all modern terminals, Consequently it is now possible to pay with SEQR in any store that supports the functionality in Sweden or abroad, even if a retailer has no private agreement with SEQR.

SEQR Contactless is a borderless solution so users will be able to complete transactions in any country they are travelling in at any of the 30 million+ contactless card terminals worldwide, regardless as to whether SEQR is available for download in that country.

SEQR launches international remittance service

7/7/2016

Nasdaq Stockholm-listed Seamless’s mobile SEQR payment solution launches its recently announced international remittance service. SEQR users can now make international money transfers – or “remittances” – to non-SEQR users.

SEQR customers can already transfer money to one another across the 16 countries where SEQR is available. The new service enables SEQR customers to transfer money outside of these countries. Transfers from Sweden directly to India and Thailand will be the first deployment of the service.

“Demand for international transfers is constantly growing as the movement of people becomes increasingly global. India, one of SEQR’s launch corridors, received 12% of the total remitted volume globally so it makes perfect sense for SEQR to start here, offering a convenient solution to the Swedish market that is considerably cheaper than traditional remittance services,” says Peter Fredell, CEO of Seamless, adding:

“Following the launch of India and Thailand we intend to rapidly expand the number of countries to which SEQR’s customers can transfer money.”

Seamless granted authorization to issue electronic money in Europe

10/5/2016

Nasdaq Stockholm-listed Seamless (OMX: SEAM) has been granted authorization by Sweden’s financial supervisory authority, Finansinspektionen, to issue electronic money. This means that SEQR users can send and receive money, worldwide, in real time. Under the terms of the authorization, SEQR can also be used by minors. Money received can be accessed instantly to make payments anywhere in the world where NFC (contactless) payments are accepted. This service will be available to all SEQR users after the launch.

Seamless will be able to offer electronic money-related services within the entire EU/EEA region under the terms of the authorization. Seamless now enters this international money transfer market (aka international money remittance) through a partnership with Xpress Money, one of the world’s most dependable money transfer brands. Through Seamless ́ (SEAM) mobile payment platform SEQR, Xpress Money and Seamless can offer its customers a convenient, safer and affordable way of sending money from one country to another, digitally.

Seamless, listed on Nasdaq Stockholm, has concluded an agreement with Dwolla, a US company offering a new and innovative payment platform. “Money transfers between private individuals is a very popular service in the US. Pay with SEQR at NFC enabled card terminals – NFC technology included in SEQR

22/10/2015

During the first quarter of 2016 consumers using the SEQR mobile payment solution, from Nasdaq Stockholm listed Seamless, will be able to make payments using any near field communication (NFC) enabled card terminal. The number of card terminals that support NFC technology globally is forecast to be 24 million by the end of 2015.

Until now, SEQR customers have been able to use their phones to make payments in stores where SEQR have an integration to the merchants’ cash register. SEQR customers will be able to shop with SEQR in any store that has NFC enabled card terminals, whether or not a merchant has a direct agreement with SEQR.

“Today, we are a world leader in terms of the number of direct agreements we have with merchants and retail chains. However, there has been a bottle neck with regard to how quickly we can integrate even more merchants. Our new NFC solution eliminates this bottleneck and, on launch, will immediately provide SEQR customers with the opportunity to shop in millions of stores and points of sale across the globe. Even in countries where it is not currently possible to download SEQR,” says Peter Fredell, CEO of Seamless.

Fredell continued, “Merchants will still be able to integrate with SEQR and in doing so significantly reduce their transaction fees, while also utilizing SEQR features that will increase sales and loyalty among their customers.”

The NFC functionality will automatically be available to existing SEQR customers without the need to download a new SEQR app. Furthermore, this also means that all card terminals that accept Apple Pay will also accept SEQR.

The technology is scheduled to be launched and in production in the first quarter of 2016 and is being demonstrated for the first time on October 25, 2015 at Money20/20 in Las Vegas, the world’s largest trade show for payment and financial services.

“With the digital cash register in SEQR, combined with our MyShop service, small enterprises and private individuals now have a powerful solution at their fingertips for selling and marketing their products,” says Peter Fredell, CEO of Seamless.

“Services such as iZettle and Square require investments in hardware and involve high fees and complicated application processes. However, our solution makes hardware solutions obsolete and unnecessary. Furthermore, SEQR provides fast and easy settlement ensuring users receive payment without delay.”
With the launch of the digital cash register, SEQR becomes a complete financial ecosystem to which users can buy and sell goods, connect loyalty programs, take advantage of great offers and promotions, and transfer money to each other.

SEQR gets its first MTL in US

1/7/2015

Seamless’ (OMX:SEAM) mobile payment service SEQR, which a couple of weeks ago launched its mobile payment services in US, allowing users to pay with their smartphones at retail and online merchants, now acquires its first Money Transmitting License in the state of Missouri.

The company has during the past years structured several strategic partnerships in US, while integrating its platform to the US Banking ACH system. This allows the company to offer its merchants and users a significantly enhanced shopping experience, driven by increased transaction speed, increased loyalty, lowered fraud and significantly lower cost associated with the transaction. Now it’s time for the next step in the roll-out through obtaining the first MTL.

“It’s a great step that we have the first MTL in place as the MTLs allow us to offer the full range of features also on the US market. For example MyShop which enables the user to create and distribute their own classified ads in addition to use SEQR P2P services, which works both nationally and internationally, and simplifies the everyday life of millions of Americans” says Peter Fredell, CEO of Seamless.

“We are excited together with our partners and clients to further strenghtening our product offering in US. This important step in our expansion, positions ourselves as a true leader in the Mobile Payment Solution space,” says Daniel Bessmert, GM of SEQR USA.

During the past year Seamless prepared and submitted MTL applications for a majority of the states. Now, with the first MTL being approved the expectations are that the rest of them will be approved within the next coming twelve months.

SEQR’s MyShop opens mobile e-sales for everyone

12/6/2015

SEQR (OMX:SEAM) today releases its new feature MyShop, making it possible for every user to sell goods via their mobile, whether it is a garage sale or opening their own mobile e-shop. The goods can conveniently be marketed in social media channels of choice, classified sites, or printed and posted.

”It as been much too difficult and expensive for individuals and small companies to sell and buy goods via their smartphones. With MyShop, we want to change that. It doesn’t matter if you’re an individual who wishes to sell your summer tires, or an entrepreneur wishing to start a mobile e-shop. We’re making it simple, safe and free of charge,” says Peter Fredell, CEO of Seamless.

The new SEQR feature MyShop gives all users their own online shop, with a payment solution that is simple, safe and free of charge. To start using your MyShop, just take a photo of what you wish to sell, write a description and set your price. An ad with a QR code is then automatically generated and e-mailed to you.

The ad can be shared in social media channels or on classified sites of your choice, such as Facebook, your own blog or Tictail. The buyer scans the code and makes the purchase, address and payment information already conveniently included in the SEQR app.

Since SEQR is connected directly to the buyer’s bank account, the purchase amount can also be reserved until both the buyer and seller have confirmed that the purchase is complete. In other words, SEQR offers a higher level of transparency and control for both the buyer and seller, completely free of charge.

Seamless-owned SEQR has during the past six months accelerated the development towards large-scale mobile payment options. SEQR is now available in 10 European markets, and as of yesterday, also in the Unites States. SEQR recently announced that it has developed plugins integrated with some of the world’s largest e-commerce platforms, giving hundreds of thousands of online merchants the ability to offer their customers mobile payments. Finally, SEQR has introduced the possibility of connecting the service directly to your bank account, as well as the market’s most generous cashback reward program.
